Wollcott House Museum in Maumee, Ohio

The city of Maumee is located in the beautiful Maumee River Valley, where many early Native American tribes made their homes.

Maumee was established early in the 1800s. Within the city and in nearby areas are many interesting historical sites and monuments, including the battle of Fallen Timbers, Turkey Foot Rock, Fort Miami, Fort Meigs, Dudley's Massacre, the Indian Elm, and canal locks.

Many historic homes, some built as early as the 1820s, are still preserved and maintained as residential homes in Old Maumee. The Wolcott House Museum, operated by the Maumee Valley Historical Society, has collected on its grounds six historical buildings from the Maumee area that illustrate the history of the Maumee Valley from 1835 - 1901.

The city of Maumee is served by the Maumee City School District consisting of four elementary, one middle school, and one senior high school. Things to Do

Maumee maintains ten parks and playgrounds, many with tennis courts and ball diamonds. The Recreation Department offers organized playground programs during the summer months.

The Lucas County Recreation Center, located in Maumee, is a 90-acre complex that offers softball diamonds, basketball courts, tennis and handball courts, a walking trail, a soccer/football field, running tracks, and rental halls for trade shows.
